All Hue products follow the same easy QR code setup, so you can scan and set up all your Hue devices at the same time.
How to set up a Hue dimmer switch
Read this first!
1. Do you have more than one Hue device to add
Keep them all together! You’ll scan all of their QR codes during the same step.
2. Do you have the Hue app?
Download it in your phone’s app store.
Connect with a Bridge
Dimmer switch setup instructions
Your Bridge should be connected and added to your Hue app.
Haven’t done that yet? Learn how to set up the Bridge.
1. Open the Hue app.
2. On your Home tab, tap the three dots (…) icon. Then, tap Add devices
Note: You can also open the Settings tab, and then tap Devices. Tap the blue plus (+) icon in the top right corner.
3. Choose a Room to add the switch to.
If you don’t have any Rooms yet, you’ll be asked to create one.
4. Scan the QR code.
If you have more Hue devices to add, scan them too. Once your devices have been successfully scanned, tap Next.
Note: If your product doesn’t have a QR code, tap No QR code to add it by searching or using its serial number.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions to customize its settings.
Connect without a Bridge
Dimmer switch setup instructions
1. Hold the dimmer switch up to the light you want to control. Stay within six inches of the light.
2. Press and hold the on/off button for three seconds until the green light starts to blink.
3. Repeat to pair the dimmer switch with up to 10 bulbs.
4. If you want to disconnect a dimmer switch from a light, press and hold the Hue button for 10 seconds until the light blinks.

*When a bulb displays "Up to" a certain number of lumens in its specifications, it displays the maximum lumen output of the bulb. It shows how bright the bulb can get at 2700 K (White bulbs) or 4000 K (White ambiance or White and color ambiance bulbs). Learn more about brightness.
